IN COMPARING BETWEEN BUST HANDS:
The hand with the lowest-ranking high card is low hand.
So the lowest possible hand is 2♦, 3♣, 4♣,5♣, 7♣
IN A STRAIGHT OR STRAIGHT FLUSH:
Any ace can be high or low, but you cannot go “around the corner”:
Queen King Ace Two Three is not a straight.
THE RANK OF IDENTICAL-VALUE CARDS*:
Spades ♠
Hearts ♥
Diamonds ♦
Clubs ♣
A JOKER OR WILD CARD IS ANY SINGLE CARD YOU SAY IT IS.
TO DETERMINE THE “WINNER” AND “LOSER” OF THE HAND:*
The players may examine all the other hands in the showdown.
Each player (in order from the dealer’s left) must
first select five cards (if playing 7 card variant), and
declare the suit and value of any jokers and wild cards in the hand.
The hands are ranked from highest to lowest, evaluated as if each one was trying for high hand.
The highest-ranking hand is the WINNER or TOP.
The lowest-ranking hand is the LOSER, or BOTTOM.
Have fun!
* These are not the same rules used in Poker in Las Vegas, etc. These changes have been made to prevent “ties”, and to prevent one hand from being declared both high hand (“winner”) and low hand (“loser”). These results are allowed in money games, but they would make it difficult or impossible to pay off some wagers and forfeits.
