The Yellow and Black Group is proud to participate in LeatherWalk 2024.
- What is LeatherWalk? Thank you for asking!
- On Sunday, September 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., kinky folks will gather at San Francisco City Hall We will proudly walk through South of Market, stopping for entertainment and refreshment at our favorite bars, leather stores, etc. We will arrive at Eagle Plaza around 3 pm, in time to join the Leather Pride Fest, raise the Leather Pride flag, and launch San Francisco Leather Week!
- Think of it as a combination Kink Pride March and Bar Crawl!
- LeatherWalk will also raise money for the LEATHER & LGBTQ Cultural District’s Leather Legacy Landmarks project, installing sidewalk plaques honoring iconic SOMA locations that started serving the community in the 1960s.
What has this got to do with watersports? Good question!
- The South of Market Area of San Francisco has a history of piss-friendly venues: The Caldron, Boot Camp, Blow Buddies, and one of my personal favorites, The Trench, whose “Mellow Yellow” parties each Monday evening (roughly from 1978 to 1983). were where I learned to love pissplay.
- LeatherWalk 2024 has as its goal raising $22,000 to place bronze plaques on the streets of SOMA honoring those and similar places.
The Yellow and Black Group has set its goal as raising $4000 to sponsor the plaque at the site of the Trench (Natoma and Eighth Street).- So… we can increase the visibility of watersports, preserve the history of kink in San Francisco, and support the LEATHER & LGBTQ Cultural District in its work of keeping SOMA kinky and queer, by being a part of the LeatherWalk 2024 campaign!
- What can I do?
- First of all, mark your calendar for Sunday, September 22, and plan to join us at SF City Hall at 11 am. Wear good walking shoes or boots; wearing anything else is optional, but the kinkier the better!
- Walking is free. It will be very helpful if you sign up in advance, though.
- Second, you can contribute to the LeatherWalk 2024 campaign. If you go directly to the Yellow and Black Group Team page, you can easily make a donation that will help our team reach its goal.
- If you really want to help, you can sign up as a fundraiser, and join the Yellow and Black Group team!
- Your donation can be anonymous if you like, and you can join the fundraising team under any name you like. You will have to supply a valid email address to be a fundraiser, and a valid credit card to make a donation.
- Also, just for fun, you can attend the LeatherWalk Beer Busts: 9/1, 4 to 8 pm at the Lone Star, or 9/8, 3 to 7 pm at the SF Eagle.
